Job Summary & Key Responsibilities:

The School of Nursing is now accepting applications for Clinical Instructor positions in the summer term of year 2025, which will run from May 5 – July 25, 2025.

Work Assignment: Instructors are responsible for teaching and supervising a group of BScN students who provide direct client care in clinical settings, work in a clinical skills and simulation lab, or tutorial group setting. Tasks include but are not limited to lab demonstrations, marking and proctoring term tests and final examinations, as well as evaluating assignments.

Access to a computer (no tablet/iPad/phone) with working internet to run Microsoft Teams for online meetings and instruction is required. Clinical Instructors will report to the instructor of record for their course and work under the protection of CUPE Collective Agreement 3912 – Dalhousie University. Document can be accessed via CUPE Collective Agreement.

Summer 2025 Positions:

1. N2710 (Population Health Nursing): Experience in Community/Public Health Nursing required.
   • Community Teacher/Tutorial Instructor: Not to exceed 72 hrs. Bi-weekly 2h tutorials: Thursdays a.m. plus full week Community Clinical (July 14-18, 2025).
2. N2715 (Clinical Integration 1): Experience in Long-term Care preferred.
   • Simulation Lab Instructors: Not to exceed 77 hrs (Tuesdays a.m. or p.m.).
   • Long-term Clinical Instructors: Not to exceed 60 hrs (July 21-25, 2025).
3. N3710 (Nursing and Episodic Illness): Experience in Acute Care or Emergency Nursing required.
   • Tutorial Leads: Not to exceed 22 hrs, held bi-weekly Thursdays a.m.
4. N3730 (Nursing in the Context of Persistent Illness): Experience in MedSurg Nursing required.
   • Tutorial Leads: Not to exceed 22 hrs, held bi-weekly Wednesdays p.m., between May 5-23 and June 23-July 18, 2025.
5. N3715 (Clinical Integration 3): Experience in Acute Care or Emergency Nursing required.
   • Simulation Lab Instructors: Not to exceed 58 hrs (Wednesdays a.m. or p.m.).
6. N3725 (Clinical Integration 4): Experience in Med/Surg and/or Mental Health Nursing required.
   • Simulation Lab Instructors: Not to exceed 58 hrs (Thursday a.m. or p.m. labs between May 5-23 and June 23 – July 18, 2025).

Qualifications/Requirements of Position:

Requirements of Position in BScN program: A Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, an active RN license with the NSCN, as well as two years of recent clinical experience is required. Clinical teaching experience (which may include preceptorship of staff or students) is essential. Instructors working in the lab are required to participate in SIM training sessions or workshops. Preference will be given to applicants that are available to do SIM/labs and Clinical in the same course.
