Dalhousie University is seeking a Part Time Academic Lecture Assistant for CHEM 2401: Organic Chemistry I for Fall 2025. CHEM 2401: Organic Chemistry I – 1 Lecture Assistant – Fall 2025
Responsibilities include collaborating with course instructors to prepare and deliver all aspects of Chem 2401. This involves preparing course materials such as lecture slides and video content for Brightspace, grading assignments, quizzes, midterms, and exams, answering student inquiries, providing in-person tutorials and help sessions (up to 3 times a week), and conducting exam preparation tutorials (1-2 sessions before midterms and finals). The position reports to the Dean of the Faculty of Science via the Chair of the Department of Chemistry and may occasionally involve tasks in other courses.
The minimum qualification is a MSc degree (PhD preferred) or two years of graduate studies in Chemistry, specializing in organic chemistry. Experience supporting teaching in organic chemistry at the university level is required. The ideal candidate should have proven ability to work independently and in groups, meet deadlines, and possess a strong background in organic chemistry, including stereochemistry, reactions, and synthetic sequences.
