Job description

The office of Member of Parliament Ménard, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Women and Gender Equality and Secretary of State (Small Business and Tourism) and Member of Parliament of Hochelaga-Rosemont-Est, is currently seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Parliamentary Assistant.

Job Description

In this role, you will be responsible for researching, gathering data and preparing summaries for the Member of Parliament (MP) as part of her parliamentary duties, including committee work. As part of your team, you will work closely with a number of government departments, as well as with the constituency office on the Parliamentary Secretary's communications and agenda.

Primary Responsibilities :

  • Conduct research, prepare comprehensive reports and summaries on topics of particular interest to the MP or relevant to committee work.
  • Conduct media monitoring and prepare background papers to keep the MP abreast of emerging and evolving issues and potential areas of interest or concern.
  • Conduct research to identify and analyse information needed to prepare speeches, presentations, briefings, press releases and correspondence.
  • Prepares the MP for House of Commons and committee work.
  • In conjunction with the Constituency Office Manager, manage the MP's agenda, review and deal with commitments in the National Capital Region, plan meetings and events and inform the MP of any changes in accordance with the appropriate rules and guidelines.
  • Carry out any other related duties within the scope of the position, as requested by the MP.

Qualifications

Education :

  • Superior written and oral communication skills in French and English;
  • Research and analysis experience either acquired through post-secondary studies or professional experience;
