Parks Operator I & II
(Mowing) Seasonal
Annual Seasonal (32 weeks)
The City of West Kelowna's Parks Department is looking to fill vacancies on its turf mowing team. The mowing team plays a vital role in providing high-quality turf mowing for sports fields, parks, and boulevards across the City. This team consists of six personnel, including Operator I's and II's.

Summarized Responsibilities:

  1. Parks Operator I performs entry-level tasks in maintaining and operating infrastructure, including construction, gardening, equipment handling, repair work, and assisting with traffic control, while ensuring safety and compliance with guidelines and bylaws. Responsibilities include line trimming, backpack blowing, mowing, seasonal cleanup/pruning, and other related duties as required.
  2. Parks Operator II performs advanced tasks in maintaining and operating infrastructure, including landscaping, sports field maintenance, tree care, and building upkeep, while operating various tools and equipment, leading traffic control, enforcing bylaws, and training or directing other staff.
This is a permanent, 32-week seasonal position returning annually March to October. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day, totaling 40 hours per week.

Our Ideal Candidate:
  • Grade 12 education or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working in general construction, horticulture related work, equipment operation or similar
  • Basic First Aid (formerly Occupational First Aid Level I)
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License with Heavy Trailer Endorsement
