POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Supervisor – Parks Operations and the technical direction and guidance of the Leadhand, performs repairs to buildings (plumbing, carpentry), various facilities and equipment throughout the parks system.

MAJOR TASKS:

• Repairs buildings, roofing, doors, windows, chimneys, siding, etc.
• Constructs, forms footings, etc., for concrete.
• Constructs picnic tables, parks benches, etc.
• Repairs water lines, plumbing and fixtures in various facilities.
• Performs skilled bench work.
• Operates Departmental equipment.
• Carries out general Park Worker duties.
• Supervises staff assisting in various tasks.
• Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

GENERAL: Must possess a working knowledge of the tools and equipment required to accomplish tasks. Must be reliable, and able to read, write, and speak English.

SPECIFIC: Must possess skills in wood working, plumbing, and concrete work. Must be capable of working from scaffold and ladders. Must possess and maintain a valid Class “G” Ontario Driver’s Licence, or equivalent. Must meet the definition of a competent driver as defined by the Corporation

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

• Must remain a competent driver as defined by the Corporation
• May be required to provide a successful driver’s record (uncertified)
