Do you love working outdoors with a lot of variety in your workday? Ontario Parks is looking for an energetic and enthusiastic individual to join the team as a Park Maintenance Leader, supervising and leading the maintenance and operation of water and wastewater system, and other park facilities.

About the job

In this role you will:

• provide group leadership, training, and guidance to staff in the maintenance department
• carry out the maintenance and monitoring of water and sewage systems.
• carry out a variety of electrical, plumbing, and mechanical maintenance and repair duties to park facilities, vehicles and equipment
• ensure policy and legislative requirements are met, maintained, and properly
documented
• ensure park operating and capital maintenance standards are maintained

What you bring to the team

Mandatory requirements

• You must have a valid class 'G' driver's license or equivalent, as recognized by the province of Ontario.
• You have a valid emergency first aid certificate or have the ability to obtain it.
• You are able to work shifts, weekends and statutory holidays as per schedule.

Operational Maintenance skills

• Demonstrated ability to perform semi-skilled tasks in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and mechanical systems, including troubleshooting and minor repairs.
• Knowledge of water and sewage systems, including regulatory sampling, testing, and maintenance in compliance with ministry standards.
• Proficient in operating and maintaining powered equipment (e.g., chainsaws, tractors, chlorinating systems).

Leadership and Supervisory skills

• Proven experience in organizing, directing, and evaluating maintenance programs and leading seasonal staff.
• Ability to assess work quality, provide training, and contribute to staff selection and performance evaluation.
• Ability to interpret, apply and ensure adherence to Occupational Health and Safety Act and related workplace safety practices.

Operational Planning and Problem Solving

• Ability to estimate materials and labor, manage supplies, and contribute to maintenance strategies and annual work plans.
• Skilled in reviewing technical documents and coordinating contractor work to ensure compliance with park standards.
• Competent in using computers for word processing, record-keeping, and internet applications.
