Classification and Salary: Caretaker 1 (CT1) $23.37 - $24.76 per hour

In addition to regular wages, regular Wage employees receive 11.2% in lieu of benefits and vacation leave:

  • 5.2 percent of regular wage earnings instead of paid holidays
  • 6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of annual vacation pay

Role Responsibilities

Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park and Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park/ Aisinai’pi are both looking for Caretakers for the 2025 Summer season.

We are looking to hire Caretakers for the 2025 summer season:

  • Cypress Hills – 6 positions
  • Writing-on-Stone – 3 positions

About Your Work Environment

  • Candidates must have the ability to carry out physically demanding tasks in all weather conditions, including extreme heat
  • Candidates are required to have their own reliable transportation, as there is no public transit to or near the Parks
  • Candidates must be willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • On-site fully furnished, shared accommodations may be available for rent upon request

As a Caretaking Service worker 1 (CT1), duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Daily cleaning of all park buildings, facilities, and amenities within the park; including disinfecting, sweeping, mopping, dusting, polishing, washing, laundry, cobweb removal, and filling necessities; facilities also include vault toilets (outhouses), shower and washroom facilities, and accommodation facilities
  • Maintain cleanliness in the caretaking shop; report any equipment issues to the Caretaking Supervisor
  • Assist with start/end of season cleaning of the accommodation units mouse-proofing living spaces and proper equipment storage
  • Complete minor maintenance repairs and upkeep of these facilities
  • Collection and disposal of garbage & recycling
  • Regular inspections and upkeep of assigned fleet vehicle/s
  • Responsible for the upkeep and inspection of workspaces following Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) compliance protocols
  • Complete administrative tasks such as timesheets, expense claims, commencement and termination paperwork, and online courses

Education and Experience
Caretaking Service Worker 1 (CT1) – Caretaker

  • Some high school education plus 6 months of directly related experience (janitorial, house-cleaning/housekeeping, custodial, caretaking); equivalencies will be considered.

Additional requirements include:

  • Intermediate (Standard) First Aid and CPR Level C + AED is required
  • Valid Class 5 license (or equivalent); unrestricted or GDL
  • 3-year Driver’s Abstract issued within 30 days of your application submission, with no more than 6 demerits
  • CSA approved steel toe footwear is required at the responsibility of the applicant (reimbursable with receipt)

Assets:

  • Knowledge of Writing-on-Stone and/or Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park, local area and services, other local Provincial Parks, and local/provincial tourism opportunities and services
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, email, and internet
  • Experience in the hospitality or janitorial cleaning
  • Experience in commercial laundry and/or house keeping
  • Experience with small tools, household repairs and maintenance
  • Experience with floor polishing/scrubbing/buffing equipment
  • Positive and energetic personality that enjoys engaging with visitors
  • Off-highway vehicle and small equipment experience
  • WHIMS 2015 Certification
