Job summary

National Bank is seeking a Paralegal to join the Personal Banking and Intellectual Property Legal Affairs Team. The role focuses on implementing regulatory projects, managing IP assets, and supporting legal research and documentation processes.

Qualifications

  • College diploma (DEC) in Paralegal Technology, Legal Studies, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Relevant experience in legal support, document management, IP, or regulatory environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, autonomy, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with legal professionals, internal partners, and external law firms.
  • Proficiency with documentation, collaboration, and tracking tools.

Responsibilities

  • Administer the Bank’s trademark portfolio, including abandonments, renewals, preliminary trademark searches, and management of relationships with external counsel and regulatory authorities.
  • Maintain and update the Bank’s patent and trade secret portfolio.
  • Support regulatory projects by conducting preliminary research, documenting identified gaps, and coordinating follow-up activities.
  • Provide support in the establishment and coordination of various internal and external committees within the sector.
  • Conduct legal and case law research.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and the implementation of new tools for the team, and formulate recommendations accordingly.
  • Ensure structured knowledge management, documentation management, tool tracking, and ongoing coordination for the team.
  • Support the standardization of documentation, filing, and follow-up practices.

Job description

In this role, you will make a tangible impact by leveraging your experience in document management, legal research, and operational coordination.

As part of the Personal Banking and Intellectual Property Team, you will join a multidisciplinary team that makes a meaningful and positive impact on clients by protecting and enhancing National Bank’s assets. Reporting to the Senior Director, Projects, you will work closely with the entire team on a broad range of high-impact matters.

Prerequisites
  • College diploma (DEC) in Paralegal Technology, Legal Studies, or an equivalent qualification
