Job description
Overview

The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA), Integrated Northern Area invites applications for the position of palliative care physician to provide physician support (0.2 FTE) for palliative care services in the North West Area of the province (Lloydminster).

Responsibilities
  • Provide palliative care services for days contracted, including some weekends and statutory holidays.
  • Provide support to palliative care clients and families to meet identified palliative needs, including assessment, management, and ongoing support to patients on the palliative care service.
  • Include consults in hospital, continuing care, home visits, and act as a resource for other members of the care team.
  • Provide medical direction and leadership to nurses, other physicians, pharmacists, and other members of the multi-disciplinary team regarding management of patients, end-of-life decisions, and other palliative care areas.
  • Complete timely and legible documentation (history and physical examinations, management plans, follow-up plans, orders, and consultation back to referring teams).
Qualifications

The candidate will hold certification from the College of Family Physicians of Canada or from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Individuals with additional training in palliative medicine will deserve preference. Successful applicants will be eligible for a regular licence to practise in Saskatchewan from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan.

The successful candidate must be licensed by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan.
