Job description

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

Reporting to the Corporate Director of Maintenance, the Painter’s role is to complete painting projects as directed at Nova Properties located in Alberta, the Northwest Territories and Saskatchewan. Projects include applying paint, wallpaper and other finishes to interior and exterior surfaces of buildings and other structures. The Painter also prepares areas prior to working (including moving and covering of furniture and fixtures), and post painting (thoroughly cleaning up spills and splatters, removing masking materials, inspecting the finished work, and addressing any imperfections).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Experience with various painting techniques, including cutting, rolling, brushing, and spraying, is essential. This includes knowing how to create smooth, even coats and blend colors seamlessly.
  • Proficient in drywall repair, mudding and taping to create smooth and seamless wall surfaces.
  • Excellent knowledge of painting materials and how to select, mix and apply them
  • Solid knowledge of commercial and / or construction painting techniques
  • Aptitude in using appropriate tools (rollers, brushes, sprayers, caulking guns etc.)
  • Manual dexterity with excellent balance to work on scaffolding, ladders etc.
  • Conscientious with great attention to detail
  • Make on-site preparations such as, masking, covering fixtures etc.
  • Prepare walls and other surfaces for painting by scraping, using sandpaper, removing old paint etc.
  • Fill cracks, gouges, and holes with appropriate material (e.g. plaster)
  • Paint surfaces according to instructions with various tools
  • Post-Painting : Thoroughly cleaning up spills and splatters, removing masking materials, inspecting the finished work, and addressing any imperfections.
  • Adhere to all health and safety precautions and policies
  • Travel to locations outside of Edmonton as required for extended periods of time
  • Reliable Transportation. As you will be working at different job sites you must 100% be capable of getting around town. May be required to move job sites mid-day
  • Ability to work from ladders (if you are afraid of heights, this job is not for you)
  • Ability to always represent our company respectably
  • Ability to complete and provide certifications for required training provided
  • Ability to ensure proper time management and punctuality
