Responsibilities

  • Prepare surfaces for painting (cleaning, sanding, priming).
  • Apply paints, stains, and finishes to interior and exterior surfaces.
  • Perform drywall repairs, patching, and finishing.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas.
  • Move furniture and prepare workspaces for maintenance activities.
  • Ensure proper storage and inventory of materials (paints, tools).
  • Support other maintenance tasks and projects as required.
  • Follow safety protocols, especially in patient care areas.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Engineering & Maintenance, the Painter/Journeyperson is responsible for performing regular maintenance and painting services across hospital facilities. This includes preparing, painting, and maintaining interior and exterior surfaces, as well as supporting general maintenance tasks as required.

Mandatory Qualifications
  • Certificate of Qualification as a Painter/Journeyperson (or equivalent)
  • Valid 404C Trade Certificate required.
  • Relevant experience in painting, drywall, and general maintenance
  • Knowledge of surface preparation, finishing techniques, and materials
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
  • Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
  • Ability to work in a healthcare or similar environment
