Job summary

Linamar Corporation in Salford is hiring a Painter Blaster I to prepare and paint parts for agricultural machinery on the production line. This is a night shift role with a premium.

You will blast and paint frames, train new employees, maintain quality, and ensure safety while handling equipment and tools such as cranes, forklifts, and spray equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1–2 years of industrial painting in manufacturing preferred.
• Knowledge of wet paint techniques and basic paint equipment is an asset.
• Team-based production experience required to resolve quality issues.
• WHMIS and respirator safety training, as needed.
• Ability to operate cranes/forklifts and move large parts.

Responsibilities

• Blast and paint Salford frames and products per quality standards.
• Train new employees on painting/blasting procedures and equipment.
• Ensure quality standards for parts leaving the paint line.
• Load and unload frames efficiently and safely.
• Maintain records on mil readings, paint use, and environment readings.
• Follow safety procedures and wear PPE as required.
• Clean and maintain painting and blasting equipment and work areas.
• Take direction from the paint supervisor for specific products.
• Perform other duties as assigned by production supervisor.

The Painter Blaster I role is responsible for painting parts for the painting of various parts for agricultural machinery.

Responsibility

• Ability to blast and paint all Salford frames and products evenly as per Salford’s quality standards.
• Ability to train other/new employees on proper painting/blasting procedures, including equipment.
• Ensure quality standards are met with all products leaving the paint line.
• Ability to load and unload frames.
• Maintain detailed records pertaining to projects including; mil readings, paint consumption, and ambient environment readings.
• Follow all health and safety procedures as outlined in the hourly employee handbook anddepartmental safety procedures.
• Clean and maintain personal painting, ventilation, blast equipment and personal protective equipment.
• Take direction from assembly & paint supervisor as needed for specific products or projects.
• Other duties as assigned by production supervisor.

Academic/Educational Requirements

• A secondary or post-secondary education diploma or equivalent

Required Skills/Experience

• A minimum of one to two years of industrial painting in a manufacturing setting is preferred.
• Knowledge of wet paint techniques and a basic understanding of paint equipment is considered an asset.
• Work as a member of a team in a production line and collaborate with one another to resolve quality problems as needed.
• Take safety courses, such as training in the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS). and in proper use of respirators and other safety equipment as needed.
• Ability to operate overhead crane/forklift and move large parts on monorail independently.
• Experience with hand tools and power tools.
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs with the assistance of a lifting device.
• Highly organized, proactive, can work independently without supervision.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Must be able to communicate effectively both written and verbal.
• Positive attitude that will be a good cultural fit is required.
• Excellent hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity, attention to detail.
• Maintain clean work areas and equipment
