Job description

PACIFIC SANDS POSITION PROFILE

Position Title:Painter

Department: Property Operations

Schedule: As operations require, including weekends and statutory holidays

*Part of accepting this position is participating in our On-Call Program.

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Property Operations Manager, the Painter is responsible for maintaining the aesthetic appearance and protective finishes of resort facilities through skilled painting, staining, and finishing of various surfaces. As part of the Property Operations team, this role ensures that guest areas, back-of-house spaces, staff accommodation, and external structures are kept in top condition. The Painter also assists with light maintenance duties to support overall facility upkeep and guest satisfaction.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The key responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:

  • Provide 5-star customer service to all guests.
  • Acknowledge and greet guests with a warm and friendly greeting.
  • Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, scraping, patching, or priming as required.
  • Apply paint, varnish, stains, enamels, or other finishes using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment.
  • Match and mix paints and finishes to achieve desired colors and consistencies.
  • Maintain an organized and clean work environment; safely store paints, solvents, and tools.
  • Perform routine inspections and touch-ups in guest rooms, public areas, and exterior surfaces to maintain a high standard of appearance.
  • Assist with minor repairs such as drywall patching, tile replacement, door hardware adjustments, and caulking.
  • Respond to maintenance service requests as needed, ensuring timely and professional resolution.
  • Collaborate with guest services and housekeeping teams to minimize disruptions to guests during repair or painting activities.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in good working order and report any malfunctions or needs for replacement.
  • Survey buildings and repair mechanical systems to ensure they are consistent with health and safety standards.
  • Participate in the on-call program as required.
  • Perform other job-related duties and special projects assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE

  • Proven experience as a skilled painter; resort or hospitality industry experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge of painting techniques, surface preparation, and safety practices.
  • Basic understanding of general maintenance tasks (plumbing, carpentry, and electrical is a plus).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail, time management, and guest service orientation.
  • Have a valid driver’s license.

Physical Demands

Must be physically fit and lift moderately heavy items, along with movements such as bending, stooping, kneeling and climbing stairs when required. In addition, will be required to perform repetitive tasks and stand on your feet/or walk for long periods.
