Job summary

Linamar Corporation, through its Skyjack division, is seeking a skilled Industrial Spray Painter for our Guelph, Ontario facility. The role focuses on monitoring equipment performance, setting up and calibrating painting systems, and performing paint applications with attention to quality standards across parts and assemblies.

You will operate spray guns and conveyors, adjust pressures and spray patterns, and perform surface prep, masking, and touch-up work.

Qualifications

  • Must have three years’ experience as an industrial spray painter.
  • Should have an eye for detail to ensure painted parts meet quality standards.
  • Candidates must be willing to work days, afternoons and nights if required.

Responsibilities

  • Check quality of parts and assemblies painted to meet quality standards.
  • Perform basic maintenance on paint guns and keep equipment clean.
  • Paint surfaces of aerial work platforms using spray painting equipment.
  • Move switches and dials to start flow current and to activate conveyor and paint spraying equipment.
  • Re-adjust pressure valves to control spray direction and pattern and correct coating flaws.
  • Strip, sand, mask and repaint surfaces and blend and polish finish.
  • Clean paint from booth, conveyors, and hoses using solvent and brush.
  • Do touch-up work on products or parts and apply rust preventative.
  • Work professionally with coworkers and management and participate in training.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job description

Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring equipment performance and adjust set-ups, calibrations, and alignments on production equipment, while assisting with operation and duties in production. Track various data associated with production equipment, report any inconsistencies, use standard repair procedures and call specialists when more serious problems occur.

Responsibility:

Check quality of parts and assemblies painted to make sure paint finish meets quality standards

Perform basic maintenance duties on paint guns and keep paint equipment and general work areas clean

Paint surfaces of aerial work platforms, applying knowledge of surface preparation and painting techniques, using spray painting equipment, power tools and work aids

Move switches and dials to start flow current and to activate conveyor and paint spraying equipment

Re-adjust pressure valves to control direction and pattern of spray and to correct flaws in coating metal parts

Strip, sand, mask and repaint surfaces and blend and polish finish to match surrounding areas, manually or using portable power tools

Clean paint from ceiling and walls of booth, conveyor hooks or grid and from disks, cones, spray heads, and hoses, using solvent and brush

Do touch-up work on products or parts. Hand-spray parts to cover unpainted areas or apply rust preventative. Apply or retouch paint, using brush

Work in a professional and cooperative manner with co-workers and management

Participate in training as required to maintain and enhance skill level

Other duties as assigned

Academic/Educational Requirements:

  • Some completion of secondary school or equivalent

Required Skills/Experience:

Must have three years’ experience as an industrial spray painter, using conventional and/or air-assisted automated painting systems

Should have an eye for detail to check that parts and assemblies that are painted meet quality requirements

Candidates must be willing to work all shifts if required: days, afternoons and nights
