Job summary

The City of Kenora Fire and Emergency Services is seeking a Paid-Per-Call Firefighter. This entry-level role offers an hourly probationary rate of $27.40 and requires commitment of 2-5 hours per week.

You will respond to emergencies, assist with prevention initiatives, and participate in recruit training. Responsibilities include operating firefighting equipment, driving department vehicles when qualified, and maintaining fitness and certifications.

Qualifications

• Ontario Secondary School Diploma (Grade 12) or equivalent.
• Valid unrestricted Ontario G driver's license (or equivalent) and willingness to obtain DZ.
• Commitment to ongoing training and professional development.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of firefighting and emergency response.
• Ability to remain calm and perform effectively in emergency situations.
• Demonstrates and upholds the core values of Teamwork, Integrity, Respect, Excellence, and Service.

PAID-PER-CALL FIREFIGHTER

Salary: $27.40 per hour (Probationary rate) Hours Commitment: 2-5 hours per week (average)

The Recruit Paid-Per-Call Firefighter is an entry level position in the fire service and no experience is necessary as recruit training will be provided. Paid-Per-Call Firefighters provide an important service to the City of Kenora and are a dedicated part of our composite fire department.

The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

• Responding to emergency incidents including fires, rescues, hazardous incidents, and other public safety emergencies.

In addition, successful candidates will be required to submit the following documentation at their own cost:

• Completion of a 3-year Driver’s License Abstract deemed satisfactory to the Employer
• Completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check deemed satisfactory to the Employer
• Completion of Medical Health Evaluation
