Reports to: Manager, Production Control - Planning
The Logistics and Packaging Specialist is responsible for developing and managing packaging solutions, managing Transportation and logistics processes, and ensuring efficient material flow within the supply chain.
Responsibilities
Packaging:
Manage packaging/racking fleet requirement, procurement, and maintenance.
Oversee all aspects of packaging/racking projects from design to production, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget and provide regular updates to the stakeholders.
Determine optimal packaging style for inbound/outbound components.
Collaborate with Engineering, suppliers, and manufacturers to develop innovative and cost-effective packaging solutions.
Coordinate and escalate with Sales, Customers and Production Control to avoid packaging/racking shortages.
Transportation & Logistics
Manage global logistics including custom clearances, freight forwarding, cross docking, container re-routing, etc.
Manage, track and escalate shipments, for proactively addressing potential delays or disruptions.
Monitor adherence to freight budget
Address and resolve container issues in timely manner including damages, delays, or freight discrepancies.
Determine and execute contingency plans for supply chain interruptions.
Proactively manage expedites, diversions and ERS.
Create and maintain dashboards for real time visibility and logistics performance.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Business Administration or Engineering Degree (or equivalent)
P.Log certification (preferred)
Experience with IBM AS400 (preferred)
5 years experience in related field at an automotive OEM/Tier 1
