Job description

Join to apply for the Package Handler (Warehouse like) role at FedEx Canada.

Responsibilities include:

• Physically loading, unloading, and manually sorting packages, including lifting, pushing, pulling, transporting, and placing items safely and efficiently.
• Performing tasks across various zones and stations such as loader, unloader, palletizer, scanner, weighing, SWAK, quality assurance, facer, switcher, etc.
• Training new package handlers on loading, unloading, palletizing, and scanning techniques to ensure safe and efficient package movement.
• Inspecting packages, especially for air-restricted items, and ensuring proper handling according to procedures.

Essential functions include:

• Using the "hand-surface" method for package handling.
• Loading and unloading packages from delivery vehicles, trailers, pallets, conveyor systems, and loading grids.
• Continuously lifting, transporting, pushing, and pulling packages for approximately 3 to 5 hours, with possible multiple shifts.
• Scanning packages, reading labels, verifying numbers, memorizing information, and sorting packages accordingly.

Additional responsibilities for specialized roles:

• Training and supervising other package handlers in various techniques and safety standards.
• Inspecting and processing air-restricted packages, including scanning and filling notifications in SCMS.

Minimum education & experience:

• Education: None required.
• Experience: None required, but 6 months of experience at FedEx Express as a package handler is preferred for trainer and air roles.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

• Ability to follow instructions and safety procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret numbers and labels accurately.
• Proficiency with basic tools and equipment such as carts, scanners, and unloading devices.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Valid driver’s license and DOT record for equipment operators.
• Trainer role requires ability to train multiple peers simultaneously.
• Air package handler must complete FedEx airborne safety and transport training, recertification annually.

Working conditions:

• Work in hot and cold environments.
• Work in noisy settings.
• Must be able to lift and carry between 5 and 50 pounds.
• No travel required.

Pay Rate: $21.35/hour. Position posted between 5/2/2025 and 5/9/2025.
