Job summary

Windsor Salt is hiring a Package Equipment Operator to join our Belle Plaine production facility. This role involves operating various packaging lines and equipment to produce a wide range of salt products, with a strong commitment to safety and quality in a food-grade manufacturing environment.

You will maintain production records, assist maintenance, coordinate salt flow with the Mixer Operator, and follow GMP and food safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; post-secondary education is a plus.
• Experience in fast-paced manufacturing or processing environment preferred.
• Familiarity with automated and mobile equipment is an asset.
• Able to work effectively in a team and maintain food safety controls.

Responsibilities

• Operate bagger and ensure bags are properly filled and coded.
• Operate forklift or collaborate with Forklift Operator to promote safety, quality, efficiency, and productivity.
• Maintain production records and perform check-weighing of bags; adjust scales to ensure accurate weights.
• Deliver salt samples to the lab as needed.
• Perform preventive maintenance and minor maintenance on the bag packer and related equipment; assist maintenance personnel with repairs.
• Coordinate salt flow to the bagging station with the Mixer Operator.
• Ensure accurate coding of all bags.
• Follow the daily production schedule, including special products, codes, and palletizing requirements.
• Conduct or assist with monthly spare parts inventory cycle counts and quarterly package/materials inventory counts.
• Monitor and report on low inventory levels of packaging materials or ingredients to the Production Supervisor.
• Strictly adhere to GMP and Food Safety requirements; report all known defects and maintain high standards for product and package quality.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Mill Manager.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• High school diploma required; post-secondary education or certifications considered an asset.
• Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing or processing environment is preferred.
• Familiarity with automated and mobile equipment considered an asset.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Understanding of Food Safety Process Controls and their impact on product quality, legality, and safety.
• Physical ability to stoop, twist, bend, reach, climb stairs and ladders, and lift up to 25 kg.

Environment

• Exposure to varied temperatures and salt dust.
• Must be able to wear all PPE, including steel-toed boots and safety glasses.
