Job summary

Windsor Salt Ltd. is seeking a results-driven leader to oversee department activities in a fast-paced, 24/7 environment. You will plan and monitor multiple projects, coach staff, and ensure safety and policy compliance across the facility.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of progressive leadership and a background in engineering or technical fields. Union environment experience is a plus; strong planning and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3–5 years of progressive leadership of a team.
  • Self-starter with the ability to plan, organize and carry out multiple projects.
  • Ability to develop, coach and mentor the workforce and maintain safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure department activities are performed efficiently within the Collective Agreement, policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
  • Identify cost savings opportunities.
  • Establish and achieve unit KPIs.
  • Plan, monitor and evaluate job results; coach, counsel and discipline as needed.
  • Manage weekly scheduling, payroll and labour allocation, maintenance orders, and training programs.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Accountable to ensure that all activities in the department are being performed in an efficient and effective manner within the guidelines of the Collective Agreement, Company policies and procedures, and legislative requirements.
  • Required to have an understanding and accountability for the costs associated with the facility. Identify cost savings opportunities.
  • Establishes and ensures achievement of all unit Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Through the communication of job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures, the expectation is to create an efficient, consistent, cooperative and respectful work environment within the guideline of the Collective Agreement, Company policies and procedures and legislative requirements.
  • Responsible for weekly scheduling, job posting(s), payroll and labour allocation, maintenance work orders, job and task analyses, maintaining training program and other duties as required.
  • This position is responsible for maintaining product safety, legality and quality as per the corporate We CARE statement.
  • Provide expertise in a technical field to the executive leadership team by identifying needs and making recommendations on the people and the process.
Required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Minimum 3– 5 years of progressive leadership of a team
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to plan, organize and carry out multiple project assignments at once.
  • Demonstrate ability to develop, coach and mentor the workforce, build relationships and utilize the workforce effectively while maintaining a high safety standard.
Preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical field (preferred) or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience in bulk material, storage and/or transfer preferred.
  • Experience working in a union environment is preferred.

  • Ability to work in a fast paced, 24/7 operational environment
  • High interpersonal aptitude and a proven ability to build consensus utilizing a people-oriented approach.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
  • Works in seated or standing positions for prolonged periods of time
  • Travels between office and plant environments of varied temperatures and humidity
  • Climb stairs, ladders, working on elevated heights
  • Wears personal protective equipment

The expected annual compensation for this position is $81,600- $110,400. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as education, experience, skillset, or location.
