Job summary

PwC Canada is seeking a Summer Intern in Risk Services to join our Actuarial Property & Casualty team. You’ll gain hands-on experience with valuation, pricing, solvency, and capital management, while collaborating with experienced actuaries on client projects across insurance entities.

From May to August 2027, you’ll learn to apply AI and digital tools, develop modeling skills, and contribute to cross-functional PwC initiatives.

Qualifications

Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Computer Science, or a related field.
Actively working towards a CIA/CAS designation.
Knowledge of actuarial theories, insurance products, and prior actuarial work experience are assets.
Strong proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
Experience in reserving, reserving applications (e.g., Arius), and programming languages (e.g., Python, R).
Exposure to data analytic tools such as Tableau, Alteryx, and VBA.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to present in business context.
Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight timelines.
Commitment to client service and building relationships.
Interest in digital trends, learning new tools, and adapting how you work.
Entrepreneurial mindset and valuing diverse perspectives.
Excellent command of French required.

Responsibilities

Support IFRS 17 financial statement audits as an actuarial specialist, including re-performing liabilities and validating data.
Collaborate with Core Assurance to ensure actuarial liabilities are fairly presented.
Support a broad range of actuarial consulting services: valuation, financial condition testing, model development/validation, pricing, risk management, climate risk management.
Participate in business development and ad-hoc projects including AI solutions and modernization.
Participate in cross-functional PwC teams across Financial Services Consulting, Advisory, Deals, Tax, and Data & Analytics.
