Position: Director of Complementary Educational Services

Nature of the work

The psychologist position involves responsibility for prevention and screening activities, providing assistance and guidance to students experiencing or likely to experience social maladjustments or learning difficulties. The role includes evaluating psychological and mental functioning, creating individualized education plans to promote mental health, and supporting students in their educational, personal, and social development.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement psychological services that meet the needs of educational institutions and the school board.
  • Assist in screening and identifying students with problems, focusing on prevention and intervention.
  • Conduct evaluations of students' psychological and mental health.
  • Select and utilize standardized psychometric tools; conduct interviews, observations, and interpret data.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and review individualized education plans.
  • Work with teachers to identify issues, provide advice and support, suggest solutions, and organize training activities.
  • Support students, groups, and parents in identifying difficulties and exploring solutions, and recommend resources as needed.
  • Advise management, prepare reports, and provide recommendations for decision-making.
  • Respond to crises or emergencies and propose solutions.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with partner organizations, health and social services, and school boards.
  • Maintain and update files according to professional standards and school board rules; prepare progress and follow-up reports.
