Job description

Job Description: Youth Mentor for HOPE Program

360°kids is a vital community agency serving York Region, with over 35 years of delivering innovative support services to unhoused and marginalized youth and families. We provide a continuum of care through programs that promote youth health and well-being, including stable housing and wraparound supports.

This is a weekend contract role (Friday to Sunday, 10-hour shifts) ending March 2026, with hours from 10 PM to 8 AM.

The HOPE Program supports young females who are victims of Human Trafficking, helping them develop skills for independence in a respectful, supportive environment. The Youth Mentor will support youth at the 360°kids apartment, providing mentoring, crisis counseling, and case management.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct intakes and assessments to determine eligibility.
  2. Meet with youth to assess needs, set goals, and promote stability.
  3. Support youth through case management and informal counseling.
  4. Facilitate life skills sessions and provide ongoing support and mentoring.
  5. Use trauma-informed counseling approaches tailored to individual needs.
  6. Act as a positive role model and mentor.
  7. Respond to inquiries, complaints, and emergencies, assessing and resolving issues.
  8. Manage conflicts and disputes, mediating and documenting outcomes.
  9. Assist youth in securing housing and accessing community resources.
  10. Advocate for youth and support their well-being.
  11. Document client information and ensure safety at all times.
  12. Support crisis management and report incidents promptly.
  13. Oversee apartment operations, including maintenance and cleanliness.
  14. Enforce house rules and policies.
  15. Manage rent collection and ensure timely payments.
  16. Ensure compliance with organizational policies, standards, and laws.
  17. Report regularly to the Team Lead and contribute to program planning.
  18. Complete mandatory documentation and reporting.
Qualifications:
  • CYW Degree/Diploma or related post-secondary education, or equivalent experience working with youth.
  • Experience with street-involved youth and victims of human trafficking is preferred.
  • Training in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) and current First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and insurance.
  • Understanding of youth issues, human trafficking, legislation, and case management.
  • Strong counseling, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of community resources and advocacy skills.
