Qualifications

  • Kenntnisse in der Unterstützung von komplexen Entscheidungen und Ressourcenmanagement.

Responsibilities

Job Opportunity: Overnight Youth Worker

Haven Youth Worker – Overnight (Competition #24-25)

About Our Opportunity

Directions Youth Services, a division of Family Services of Greater Vancouver (FSGV), has provided essential resources for children, families, and individuals in the Greater Vancouver community for over 90 years. We focus on supporting at-risk, homeless, and street-involved youth under 25 through counseling, harm reduction programs, shelter, and drop-in services.

This position is located at our undisclosed Youth Haven location, a voluntary residential program for at-risk youth aged 16–21 of all genders, providing immediate support, connections to longer-term services, and youth-led goal setting. Staff work in shifts to provide responsive care and report to the Program Manager. All shifts are overnight and awake.

Work Hours

24 hours per week, Thursday–Saturday, 11:00 pm–7:00 am

Salary

$26.85 per hour (Grade 8 Step 1) plus a $2.00/hour shift premium for overnight hours

Qualifications
  • Diploma in a related human/social service field
  • 1 year experience with homelessness, mental health, addictions, or social services
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to build respectful relationships and motivate clients
  • Experience in case management and supporting complex decisions
  • Knowledge of community resources, harm reduction, adolescent development, and related issues
  • Strong communication, conflict resolution, and behavioral management skills
  • Ability to work independently and within diverse environments
Additional Requirements
  • Negative TB test
  • Current First Aid, Food Safe Level 1, and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certificates (assets)
  • Criminal Record Check
