Job summary

Food Basics is seeking an Overnight Grocery Clerk to join the team in Mississauga. You will be part of an overnight shift responsible for receiving, replenishing, and merchandising products across Grocery, Dairy, Frozen and Bakery to ensure shelves are stocked and displays are ready for morning customers.

The role requires reliability, attention to detail and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Flexible shifts including nights, weekends and holidays are possible in a unionized environment.

Responsibilities

• Unload deliveries and organize products in backroom, coolers, and freezers.
• Restock shelves, coolers, freezers, and displays across Grocery, Dairy, Frozen, and Bakery.
• Face and level products to maintain a clean, organized, shop-ready appearance.
• Rotate stock using FIFO to ensure freshness.
• Set up promotional displays and end caps in Grocery Department.
• Ensure accurate pricing, signage and product labelling.
• Conduct inventory checks and report discrepancies, damaged items, or out-of-stock items to management.
• Keep aisles, shelves, coolers, freezers and work areas clean and safe.
• Sweep and mop floors and address spills promptly.
• Perform duties across all Grocery Department areas and operate equipment safely.
• Assist with additional tasks or projects as needed by management.
• Adhere to health, safety, sanitation and food handling guidelines.

This position is part of a unionized bargaining unit. The hourly wage for this position is starting at 16.60 which is established in accordance with the collective agreement. Depending on a candidate's relevant knowledge, skills, education and prior experience, a higher hourly wage may be offered. Any hourly wage offered for this role, whether it is the starting wage or higher, will be within the wage scale established for this position in accordance with the collective agreement.

This is a posting for an existing permanent part-time position.

Be part of a dedicated overnight team that keeps our store stocked, organized, and ready for customers each morning. As an Overnight Grocery Clerk, you will play a key role in receiving, replenishing, and merchandising products throughout the Grocery Department, including Grocery, Dairy, Frozen, and Bakery.

Our overnight team works behind the scenes to ensure shelves, coolers, and displays are fully stocked and presentation-ready before the store opens. If you are reliable, detail-oriented, and enjoy physical, fast-paced work, we want you on our team!

What You’ll Do:

• Unload deliveries and organize products in the backroom, coolers, and freezers.
• Restock shelves, coolers, freezers, and displays in the Grocery, Dairy, Frozen, and Bakery departments, ensuring products are placed in the correct locations.
• Face and level products to maintain a clean, organized, and shop-ready appearance throughout the store.
• Rotate stock using the first-in, first-out (FIFO) method to ensure product freshness.
• Set up and maintain promotional displays and end caps throughout the Grocery Department.
• Ensure accurate pricing, signage, and product labelling.
• Conduct inventory checks and report discrepancies, damaged products, or out-of-stock items to management.
• Keep aisles, shelves, coolers, freezers, and work areas clean, safe, and free of hazards.
• Sweep and mop floors as needed and address spills promptly to maintain a safe work environment.
• Perform duties across all areas of the Grocery Department, including Grocery, Dairy, Frozen, and Bakery.
• Operate equipment and tools safely and according to company procedures.
• Assist with additional tasks or projects as assigned by management.
• Adhere to all company policies, as well as health, safety, sanitation, and food handling guidelines.

Qualifications:

• Able to stock merchandise and create displays.
• Good product knowledge and attention to detail.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Retail experience is considered an asset.
• Able to stand for extended periods of time and work under minimal supervision.
• Must be available to work flexible shifts which may include nights, weekends and holidays.
