Job summary

Food Basics is seeking an Overnight Grocery Clerk to support a dedicated overnight team in stocking, organizing, and preparing shelves for morning customers. The role emphasizes reliability, attention to detail, and a willingness to work in a fast-paced environment.

As a part-time position within a unionized store, you will help unload deliveries, maintain pricing and displays, and assist with inventory checks while adhering to health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.

Qualifications

• Customer service driven.
• Able to stock merchandise and create displays.
• Good product knowledge and attention to detail.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Retail experience is considered an asset.
• Able to stand for extended periods of time and work under minimal supervision.
• Must be available to work flexible shifts which may include nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Unload deliveries and organize products in the backroom or cooler.
• Stock shelves with incoming inventory, ensuring items are placed in the correct locations.
• Face and level products to maintain a clean and organized appearance throughout the store.
• Rotate stock using the FIFO method.
• Set up and maintain promotional displays and end caps.
• Ensure accurate pricing, signage, and product labelling.
• Keep aisles, shelves, and work areas clean, safe, and free of hazards.
• Sweep and mop floors, and promptly address spills to maintain a safe environment.
• Conduct inventory checks and report discrepancies or damaged goods to management.
• Assist with additional tasks or projects as assigned by management.
• Adhere to all company policies, as well as health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.

This position is part of a unionized bargaining unit. The hourly wage for this position starts at $16.60 - $16.70 and is established in accordance with the collective agreement. Depending on a candidate’s relevant knowledge, skills, education, and prior experience, a higher hourly wage may be offered. Any hourly wage offered for this role, whether starting or higher, will fall within the wage scale established for this position in accordance with the collective agreement.
This is a posting for an existing permanent part-time position.
