Job description

Overnight Camp Assistant Manager

Spruce Lake Ministries summer camp programs serve kids ages 5-18. Each summer we look for individuals who are responsible, fun, and have a desire to point people towards Christ! You'll be working with an amazing summer team as well as interacting with campers and living in community.

The Overnight Camp Assistant Manager is responsible for the organization and oversight of the overnight camp program and staff in conjunction with the Overnight Camp Manager. The assistant manager is a member and leader of the Summer Leadership Team.

Youth Ministry Team Prerequisites:
  1. Growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  2. Adheres to, promotes, and endorses the mission, vision, and values of Spruce Lake Ministries.
  3. Conduct her/himself behaviorally in a manner that is above reproach, realizing that the greatest potential for ministry in camping is achieved through the witness of the Christ-like lives of the team.
  4. Be spiritually mature enough to take initiative in using the resources available to grow and to encourage others to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ.
  5. Be emotionally and socially mature enough to relate to, cooperate with, and lead a diverse team of individuals in the camp community.
  6. Learn and uphold all camp policies and guidelines as outlined in the team manual and other appropriate area manuals.
  7. Possess the integrity to faithfully fulfill the commitment of service agreed upon in a positive manner.
Qualifications:
  1. At least 21 years of age
  2. Youth camp experience preferred
  3. Ability to work independently, set deadlines & manage details
  4. Ability to enthusiastically lead large groups & give clear instructions
  5. Teachable spirit, team-player attitude, servant heart, responsible, industrious, flexible, enthusiastic
  6. Able to make sound decisions in the event of emergencies
  7. Physical Requirements: Constant walking, hiking, running, climbing on uneven terrain. Lifting to 35 lbs.
Essential Responsibilities:
  1. Oversee all program aspects of overnight camp; planning, preparing, enthusiastically running and evaluating activities throughout the summer.
  2. Lead team meetings and emcee large group activities.
  3. Spiritually shepherd the staff members on the summer team.
  4. Active support for camper behavior management and intervention.
  5. Set up and run audio/visual equipment for worship times.
  6. Distribute and collect weekly paperwork.
  7. Coordinate with other leadership staff to respond to overnight needs.
Other Responsibilities:
  1. Other duties as assigned by manager
  2. Attend weekly team fireside and community groups
  3. Attend summer team outing
