Job summary

WF Crane and Service, Mississauga, ON, is seeking an Overhead Crane Service Field Technician - Journeyman Electrician. The role focuses on maintenance, service, modification and fault finding of electrical control systems on overhead cranes and related equipment.

The ideal candidate will read schematics, install and repair wiring, and troubleshoot control systems. Travel throughout Ontario is required, with potential overtime; safety and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Proven track record in a similar role.
• Able to read schematic diagrams and blue prints; competent electrical knowledge.
• Install, examine, replace or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switchboxes, conduits and feeders that form parts of overhead cranes.
• Test electrical components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance.
• Maintain, repair, install and test switchgears, transformers, switchboard meters and regulators that form parts of overhead cranes.
• Troubleshoot, maintain and repair industrial, electrical and electronic control systems, and other related devices that form parts of overhead cranes.
• Experience with lifting equipment and their control systems.
• Willing to travel throughout the Province.
• Comfortable working at heights; safety sensitive role.
• Pass a pre-screen drug & alcohol test.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, service, modify and fault-find electrical control systems on overhead cranes and handling equipment.
• Inspect and repair electrical wiring, switchboxes, switchgears, feeders.
• Read schematics and blueprints to diagnose issues and implement fixes.
• Travel as required within Ontario, with potential overtime.
• Ensure safety and quality during field service tasks.

The Position -

An opportunity currently exists for an Overhead Crane Technician for our Mississauga Service location. We are offering a competitive hourly rate, plus overtime and benefits. The position is based in the Greater Toronto Area, but travel WILL be required throughout the Province.

The Ideal Candidate -

You will be involved in the maintenance, service, modification and fault finding of electrical control systems on a variety of overhead cranes, hoists and other material handling equipment.

While the position is largely an electrical role, a good understanding of mechanical engineering is an essential requirement, and once onsite you will need to call upon your skill base to solve problems autonomously.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualities:

• A proven track record in a similar role.
• Able to read schematic diagrams and blue prints. Competent electrical knowledge, servicing of lifting equipment. Install, examine, replace or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switchboxes, conduits and feeders that form parts of overhead cranes.
• Test electrical components that form parts of overhead cranes for continuity, current, voltage and resistance.
• Maintain, repair, install and test switchgears, transformers, switchboard meters and regulators that form parts of overhead cranes.
• Troubleshoot, maintain and repair industrial, electrical and electronic control systems, and other related devices that form parts of overhead cranes.
• Experience with lifting equipment, their control systems and types.
• Able to use basic computer/tablet programs.
• A diligent worker who can operate within a team or autonomously as required.
• An investigative nature and a general interest in engineering and its applications.
• A keenness to continue training on new equipment and legislation.
• A flexible approach to working out of hours, site work, and overnight stays etc.
• Comfortable working at heights.
• The ability to work in a safety sensitive role at all times.
• Pass a pre-screen drug & alcohol test.
