The GO Expansion scope : new electric locomotives, fleet upgrades, train control systems, network electrification, signalling, telecommunications and digital systems, maintenance, and much more.

Objective

Alstom is seeking an Overhead Catenary System (OCS) Design Leader. This individual will be responsible for on-time Design submission by their operational team.

Responsibilities

  • R esponsible for on-time Design submission by the on-shore Design team
  • Lead establishment and Review basic and detailed design documents for the project based on the deliverables list
  • Definition and coordination of required technical inputs needed for OCS Design
  • Technical Interface Management with internal and external stakeholders
  • Technical management of suppliers and subcontractors
  • Signing off all OCS design submissions
  • Provide support on OCS topics to System Engineering team
  • Respect of Engineering Management Plan and Design Quality Plan
  • OCS global performances
  • Requirement development, coming from reference and applicable documents from Metiers, Standards, local practices, Certification, Safety, Platform and Customer, and for transverse requirement allocations to the various subsystems in close collaboration with the relevant specialists
  • Respect of normative references and local standards rules
  • Integration of Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Safety (RAMS) requirements
  • Integration of O&M requirements in OCS Design
  • Functional analysis and specification
  • Definition of the global OCS typical assemblies and components and basic design (pegging plan, overlaps, crossover…etc) as per the external/internal requirements
  • Consistency and compatibility between all the sub-systems specifications
  • Efficiency of the transversal studies related to OCS (CEM, Earthing & Bonding…)
  • Applicable OCS configuration and deliverables list
  • Supporting technical interface with Customer
  • Integration of 3rd party technical inputs in OCS Design
  • Definition of required surveys to complete OCS Design
  • On-shore Design team management and coordination
  • Preparation of Design Reviews, especially for Gate Reviews
  • Technical inputs required for correspondences (letters, minutes of meetings, submittals…) related to OCS design activities
  • Definition and review of components technical criteria and management of technical evaluation of suppliers
  • Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) procedures and technical lead during FAT
  • Bill of Quantities (BOQ) elaboration, review and update
  • Collect the REX (Return of Experience) coming from the Regional Centers
  • Checking and integration of suppliers, sub-contractors and in-house OCS designs and ensure technical compliance
  • Review and getting approval of OCS design deliverables, reply to comments if any

The OCS team is mainly composed of on-shore located in Toronto, Canada, and off-shore part located in St-Ouen, France.

Reporting

This position will report to the OCS Design Manager, managing a team of up to ten.

The candidate will liaise with:

  • Engineering: ELEctrification Traction Design Manager, POS Design team, Central Engineering and Transverse Engineering team
  • Project: Project management team
  • Site: Construction management team
  • Customer, Consultants, External stakeholders
  • Civil Works and Track works partners
  • Interfacing sub-systems (Rolling Stock, Trackwork, POS, Signalling, Civil works)
  • Regional Centers

Performance Measurements

  • Compliance to Engineering Work Package: 100%
  • Respect of Design For Quality (DFQ) milestones: 100% Go On Time, in accordance with the standards or rules of his Metier
  • Respect of performances of the system provided: 100%

Educational Requirements

Mandatory:

  • Bachelor's Degree of Science in Engineering, Computer Science or scientific subjects
  • Professional Engineer designation as per Canadian regulations
  • Master's Degree in Business Ad,inistration and/ or
  • Master's Degree in Project Management
  • Already worked in a BIM-integrated design environment

Experience

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in Electrification/OCS project management
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in OCS (AC or DC) engineering
  • A first experience in multicultural team management
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian standards and common practices
  • Autonomy, motivated, initiative, and interested in innovative technical topics
  • Fluent in English, second language appreciated
