Job Purpose

The Outreach Support Worker will be an integral part of an Indigenous-led Outreach Team, dedicated to supporting the unhoused population. This role involves direct, on-the-ground engagement with individuals in need, providing essential services, resources, and support to improve their quality of life. The Outreach Worker will operate as part of a mobile outreach team, ensuring that services are accessible to those who need them most.

Education, Experience, and Requirements
  • A diploma or degree in social work, human services, community development, or a related field is preferred. Experience may be considered in place of education.
  • Experience working with unhoused or vulnerable populations, particularly within Indigenous communities, is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of local resources and services available to the unhoused population.
  • Training in trauma-informed care, mental health first aid, or similar areas is an asset.
  • Strong understanding and respect for Indigenous cultures, traditions, and values.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with diverse individuals.
  • Compassionate, empathetic, and non-judgmental approach to working with vulnerable populations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic and sometimes challenging environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Competency in Windows-based computer environments and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector clearance.
  • Standard First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license, and insurance.
Working Conditions

Shelter operates 24/7, requiring flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Shift schedules may vary in accordance with the Enoch Cree Nation HR policies.
