Job description

Position Summary

Contract : until Mar 31, 2024

Hours : 30 hours per week

About the role

As the Outreach Nurse, you will deliver professional nursing and educational support related to mental health and substance use. You will provide direct support to enhance nursing practice standards in communities, focusing on RN / RPN prescribing of opiate agonist treatment and addressing the toxic drug crisis. The role offers opportunities to travel to different communities, liaise with various teams, and be at the forefront of new nursing practices. You will be part of a team that emphasizes wellness and connection.

Qualifications

About you

To succeed in this role, you will have / be:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in registered nursing or a diploma in psychiatric nursing from a recognized university, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
  • Additional training related to substance use, harm reduction, mental health, and trauma-informed practice
  • Completion of BCCSU RN / RPN Prescribing Education Program is an asset
  • Three (3) years of experience as an RN or RPN providing clinical support in primary care, community, public health nursing, or acute/ambulatory/outpatient care settings
  • Two (2) years of experience caring for clients with harm reduction and substance use concerns
