Qualifications

  • Minimum 1-year experience in mechanical and electrical maintenance.
  • Valid Class G Driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare locomotive and coach equipment for passenger rail service.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical/mechanical problems.
  • Perform inspections and repairs on coaches and locomotives.

As an Outpost Technician, you will prepare locomotive and coach equipment to dispatch into passenger rail service and provide technical expertise in troubleshooting and repairing electrical/mechanical problems. A role model for timekeeping, and a team player, who demonstrates organizational commitment and awareness. Must be willing to work outside in all weather conditions, as well as in a 24-hour, 7 days a week working environment and must work safely and follow all work procedures. Technical skills/knowledge

  • Familiarity with both mechanical and electrical power and control systems.
  • Capable of reading and understanding electrical drawings and maintenance manuals.
  • Capable of using computers and computer control systems.
  • Experience using DVM, Amp clamp-on meter, Megger, oscilloscope, power tools, and hand tools.
  • Perform scheduled inspections and unscheduled repairs, including component replacements on coaches / Locos.
  • Complete interior and exterior inspections of the coach, including all subsystems and safety equipment.
  • Equipment fault finding with corresponding repairs.
  • Record keeping.
  • Proficient in English reading, writing, and speaking skills required.
  • Traveling off-site to outpost locations for repairs, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment.

Qualifications

  • Certificate or License in related field.
  • Minimum of 1-year work experience in the Mechanical and Electrical maintenance field.
  • Must possess a valid Class G Driver’s license.
