Job summary

Airbus Canada Limited Partnership in Mirabel, QC, is seeking a Toolmaker to join our tooling department. You will build, modify, repair and maintain mechanical tools, jigs, and production equipment for aircraft assembly, using mechanical, machining and metrology skills.

The ideal candidate has a DEP in Toolmaking or related field with at least 3 years of hands-on experience in manufacturing, fitting and tooling, plus strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities; aerospace experience

Qualifications

• DEP in Toolmaking or related field, with 3 years of experience.
• Hands-on experience in manufacturing, fitting and assembling mechanical tools.
• Proficiency in reading mechanical blueprints and precision instruments.
• Experience in aerospace and/or jig manufacturing is a plus.
• Applied, rigorous and organized, with attention to detail.
• On-call duties may be required during weekends/holidays.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret mechanical tooling plans, 3D models, and specs.
• Manufacture, assemble and adjust components for jigs and tools.
• Operate milling machines, lathes, drills or CNC machines with precision.
• Diagnose and repair faults on tooling and production equipment.
• Ensure tool calibration using precision measuring instruments.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and design of tooling systems.
• Notify supervisor of broken or defective tools or equipment.
• Assist in training new employees on tooling aspects.
• Follow Health and Safety rules at all times.

The A220 commercial aircraft Programme is looking for 1 Toolmaker to join our tooling department team based in Mirabel (Québec, Canada), where you will work with tooling department.

You will be part of the tooling team responsible to support the production and work in conjunction with the tooling method group.

The team organization is established to promote cross-collaboration autonomously, supporting each other and learning collectively.

Your role as a Toolmaker will be to build, modify, repair, and maintain the mechanical tools, jigs, and equipment used in the manufacturing, assembly, and maintenance of aircraft. You must master general mechanical, machining, and tooling skills.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret mechanical tooling plans, 3D models, and technical specifications;
• Manufacture, assemble, and adjust mechanical components for the creation or modification of jigs and production tools;
• Operate conventional machine tools (milling machine, lathe, drill press, etc.) or CNC machines to machine parts with precision;
• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults and malfunctions on production tools and equipment;
• Ensure the conformity and dimensional calibration of tooling using precision measuring instruments (metrology);
• Participate in the continuous improvement and design of mechanical tooling systems;
• Advise supervisor of any broken or defective tools and/or equipment used;
• Participate in the training of new employees and/or trainees on the mechanical aspect of tooling;
• Enforce company Occupational Health and Safety rules at all times.

Requirements

• DEP (Diploma of Vocational Studies) in Toolmaking, Machining, or AEC in Tooling/Mechanics (or relevant field) with 3 years of experience;
• Hands‑on experience in manufacturing, fitting, and assembling mechanical tools;
• Proficiency in reading mechanical blueprints and using precision measurement instruments;
• Experience in aerospace and/or jig manufacturing is an asset;
• Applied, rigorous and organized;
• Great attention to detail and precision;
• Analytical mind and problem solving skills;

• Lire et interpréter des plans mécaniques d'outillage, des modèles 3D et des spécifications techniques;
• Fabriquer, assembler et ajuster des composantes mécaniques pour la création ou la modification de gabarits (jigs) et d’outils de production;
• Utiliser des machines‑outils conventionnelles (fraiseuse, tour, perceuse, etc.) ou à commande numérique pour usiner des pièces avec précision;
• Diagnostiquer et réparer les bris ou dysfonctionnements mécaniques sur les outils et équipements de production;

• Participer à l’amélioration continue et à la conception des systèmes mécaniques des outillages;
• Aviser le superviseur de tous bris ou défectuosités des outils et/ou équipements utilisés;
• Participer à la formation des nouveaux employés et/ou stagiaires sur l’aspect mécanique des outillages;
• Appliquer les règles de Santé et Sécurité au travail en vigueur de l’entreprise en tout temps.

Profil

• DEP en matriçage, technique d’usinage, ou AEC en outillage/mécanique (ou domaine pertinent) avec 3 ans d’expérience;
• Expérience concrète en fabrication, ajustement et assemblage d’outillages mécaniques;
• Maîtrise de la lecture de plans mécaniques et de l’utilisation d’instruments de mesure de précision;
• Expérience dans l’aéronautique et/ou la fabrication de gabarits (jigs) est un atout;
• Appliqué, rigoureux et organisé;
• Grand souci du détail et grande précision;
• Esprit analytique et aptitude en résolution de problème;
• Dextérité manuelle;
• Possibilité d’astreinte pendant les week-ends et/ou les périodes de vacances.
