Qualifications

  • Current National Lifeguard certification.
  • Standard First Aid and CPR C (Wilderness First Aid accepted).
  • Experience working with children/youth of varying needs.
  • Experience in outdoor recreation and managing groups.
  • Pleasure Craft Operators Card (asset).
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Team player with minimal supervision.
  • Physical ability to participate in outdoor activities.
  • Open to feedback and working weekends/evenings.
  • Pre-employment medical and background check required.

**Job Description**

**Location:** Kinark Outdoor Centre, Minden ON

**Type:** Temporary, Full Time Contract

**Start Date:** September 2, 2025

**Contracts Available:** 2 Months (September-October)

**Salary:** $18.00-$19.00 an hour depending on experience

**Hours:** 35-40 hours per week (includes evenings and weekends)

**Benefits:** Free on-site accommodation

**About the Kinark Outdoor Centre:**
The Kinark Outdoor Centre (KOC) offers outdoor activities and therapeutic recreation tailored to meet the needs of diverse clients, including children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Programs include family camps, school activities, and community programs.

**Job Summary:**
Reporting to the Program Supervisors, the Outdoor Program Facilitator interacts with children, families, and group leaders, facilitating safe and engaging recreational activities, and supervises waterfront safety.

**Duties & Responsibilities:**

  1. Interact with children and youth to foster engagement.
  2. Create a fun, positive, and safe environment.
  3. Facilitate outdoor activities such as rock climbing, high ropes, hiking, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, and paddleboarding in summer; snowshoeing, skiing, tubing, and broomball in winter.
  4. Lead group development activities through games and leadership initiatives.
  5. Adapt programs to meet participant needs.
  6. Prepare the facility for groups.
  7. Maintain and track program equipment.
  8. Understand and execute emergency procedures.
  9. Enforce safety guidelines, especially at the waterfront.
  10. Complete required training programs.
