Qualifications

About Mulgrave School: Mulgrave School, nestled in the heart of West Vancouver, is one of Canada's leading independent schools, serving students from Pre-K to Grade 12. Our vibrant Outdoor Education Programme provides students with unique opportunities to connect their classroom learning with real-world outdoor experiences. We're passionate about fostering student growth, health, wellbeing, and social-emotional development through outdoor education.

As part of our commitment to experiential learning, we are seeking an Outdoor Education Guide to join our team for seasonal on-call work at the Squamish Outdoor Leadership and Education Centre (SOLE Centre). This is an exciting chance to be a part of our dynamic OE Team, guiding students through a variety of outdoor adventures that encourage personal growth and connection to the natural world.

About SOLE Centre: The SOLE Centre offers 20 acres of adventure-filled opportunities for outdoor learning and fun, including rock climbing, mountain biking, hiking, skiing, paddling, and much more. With a variety of facilities and resources, the centre serves as an immersive environment for students to develop leadership skills and engage with the outdoors.

Our outdoor spaces include:

  • Climbing wall
  • Indoor swimming pool
  • Low ropes course & giant swing
  • Accessible treehouse
  • Fire pit & BBQ area
  • Basketball courts
  • Amphitheatres
  • Classrooms and meeting spaces
  • Acres of pristine forest

Key Responsibilities: As an Outdoor Education Guide, you will play an essential role in facilitating engaging outdoor experiences for students, ensuring safety, enjoyment, and learning in activities such as rock climbing, paddling, skiing, and more. You will work collaboratively with other outdoor education professionals to create a supportive, challenging, and fun environment for all participants.

Preferred Certifications/Qualifications: To be successful in this role, we are looking for individuals who have a genuine passion for outdoor pursuits and any combination of the following:

  • NLS Lifeguard
  • Standard First Aid w/ CPR-C
  • Advanced Wilderness First Aid
  • ACCT Ropes/High Ropes Training
  • Class 4 Driver's License
  • Leave No Trace Instructor
  • PC Level 1 Sea Kayak Instructor
  • SKGABC Assistant Overnight Guide
  • Flatwater Canoe Instructor
  • Moving Water Canoe Certification
  • Ski/Snowboarding Instructor
  • Food Safe Certification

Compensation: $270/day

Transportation: Please note that given the location of the SOLE Centre, applicants must be able to provide their own transportation.
