Job summary

Our House Child Care Centre - Out of School Care is seeking a part-time Program Leader to guide and supervise children aged 5-12, plan engaging activities, and foster positive relationships with families and staff. The role emphasizes safety, inclusivity, and collaboration within a community-focused program.

Responsibilities include leading rights-based activities, participating in games and arts, and ensuring a healthy environment.

Qualifications

  • 20 hours of Responsible Adult Training or equivalent as per licensing requirements.
  • Experience in related childcare or recreation setting as a leader or volunteer.
  • Current Emergency Childcare First Aid and CPR B/C certification.
  • Criminal Record Clearance.
  • Provide copy of immunization record.
  • Strong skills in emergent planning for school age children.
  • Developed interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication.
  • Effective leadership and supervisory skills with children and adults.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to deliver services to a culturally and economically diverse community.
  • Knowledge of Children’s Rights
  • Ability to lead and facilitate activities, games and discussions

About MPCCA

The Mount Pleasant Community Centre Association (MPCCA) operates two licenses child care centres, providing care for children 0-12 years old. Our mission is to provide high quality and affordable child care for infants, toddlers, preschoolers and school age children. We offer nurturing environments and learning experiences for children to ready them for life-long learning and to provide opportunities for children to develop physically, socially, emotionally and cognitively according to their individual development and learning styles.

Our Philosophy

We honor and value play. We believe that through play, children learn about relationships between people, living beings, materials, and physical places. We believe that play is essential for children to develop critical thinking skills and creativity. In our centres, children are given the opportunity to engage in developmentally appropriate learning activities and spend time exploring their world through play in both indoor and outdoor environments through an emergent-based curriculum.

Rate of Pay:
  • $22.26 -$24.01/hour (includes 4 % vacation pay) – depending on experience
  • Applicants with valid a ECE certification are eligible for the ECE Wage Enhancement
Hours:
  • Part-time, 5 days per week, 2-6pm (shifts vary depending on availability and program needs). Some flexibility for a shared work week.
  • Required to work additional hours for pro-d days (8hrs/day) and seasonal camps - winter and spring (8hrs/day)
  • Flexible schedule and availability are required
Contract Term:

September 2026 - June 2027 (to be renegotiated for summer)
