Out of School Care - Casual Child Care Services Worker

Position: Casual Child Care Services Worker

Location: Various

Status: Casual

Job Overview: The Child Care Services before and after school care program is a licensed and accredited Child Care Program that operates every school day as well as Non Instructional Fridays. The Fort McMurray Catholic School District is looking for casual Child Care Services workers to fill in on an as-needed basis.

Qualifications:

  • Alberta Child Care Certification must possess Level 2 as minimum
  • First aid with CPR required
  • NVCI and Food Safe certification will be considered assets
  • The successful candidates must provide a valid criminal reference check and vulnerable sector check and proof of Alberta Child Care Certification
  • Have proficient computer knowledge and ability
  • Be willing and able to work split shifts

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ensuring observations, planning, and documentation of learning and play using a variety of techniques
  • Responsible for ensuring the activities are developmentally appropriate and encourage the development of the whole child
  • Build meaningful relationships with children and promote relationships with others
  • Responsible for ensuring Food Safe practices are followed
  • Work and play at the child's physical level of their activities
  • Establish an environment to foster positive behavior in the program
  • Responsible for the accurate record keeping of attendance, accidents, incidents, cleaning, and health
  • Adhere to licensing, health, and accreditation standards

The successful candidate will be required to provide a Criminal Reference and a Vulnerable Sector Check. FMCSD may contact past and present employers for references. All FMCSD employees are expected to be computer literate; this includes fluency with e-mail, Internet, and MS Office.
