OTR Tire Technician, Valentine Gold Mine

Caliber's Valentine Gold Mine, located in Central Newfoundland, approximately 80km southwest of Millertown and Buchans, is one of the top mining jurisdictions globally. Once operational, it will be the largest gold mine in Atlantic Canada and a key contributor to Newfoundland and Labrador's economy.
Core Responsibilities
Service Excellence
- Perform tire service on customer equipment following Kal Tire standards.
- Assist mine maintenance staff as needed.
- Maintain tools and equipment properly.
- Implement and follow tire inspection and maintenance programs.
- Respond to after-hours call-outs as directed.
- Promote best practices and continuous improvement.
Operational / Technical
- Dismount and mount tires for various mining vehicles.
- Ensure safe and load-compliant mounting of tires.
- Perform equipment checks, calibrations, and wheel removals/installations.
- Balance, repair tires and tubes, and inspect wheel components.
- Operate heavy-duty tire servicing tools and equipment.
- Conduct maintenance checks, ensure safety standards, and complete reporting.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area and assist with inventory management.
Health, Safety & Environment
- Adhere to safety regulations and hygiene standards.
- Report hazards, incidents, and injuries promptly.
- Participate in safety meetings and inspections.
- Use PPE at all times and follow emergency procedures.
Key Performance Indicators
- Maintain safety standards and incident-free work.
- Use tools and equipment correctly and safely.
- Efficiently repair tires to meet customer needs.
- Contribute to smooth shop operations.
Work Experience
- Minimum two years related experience, preferably as a tire fitter.
- OTR service training and certifications are desirable.
- Experience with tire manipulators, forklifts, and service trucks.
- Prior safety-focused work environment experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Physically capable of performing duties safely.
- Valid licenses and certifications for mine site work.
- Mechanically inclined with good communication skills.
- Results-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently.
- Understanding of tire failure causes and analysis.
- Good literacy and numeracy skills.
Education
- Secondary school diploma or equivalent.
- Additional certifications preferred.
Special Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and compliance with insurance policies.
