Oshawa Power is seeking a Grid Edge & Conservation Program Manager to drive electricity DSM within its service territory and collaborate across departments. You will analyze opportunities, coordinate with customers, and support regional planning initiatives to advance non-wires solutions and grid-edge projects.

Qualifications

• Post secondary education in engineering, energy, science, business, economics, or policy.
• 5+ years in energy sector with government, consulting, regulatory agencies, energy utilities, or public infrastructure.
• Familiarity with IESO Save On Energy programs and Regional Planning.
• Familiarity with OEB policies related to non-wires solutions, customer connections, and distributed energy resources including storage.
• Experience with formulating and implementing system planning initiatives, conservation initiatives, and non-wires solutions.
• Proven ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders across departments and with medium to large customers.
• Experience with data analysis and data management is an asset.
• Professional engineering designation or related certifications are an asset.
• Experience with grant applications is an asset.

• Lead the execution of electricity Demand Side Management within Oshawa Power’s service territory, coordinating with industrial, commercial and institutional customers to identify and pursue energy savings opportunities.
• Collaborate with the Director, Communications & Stakeholder Relations and VP, Strategic Partnerships to build relationships with large customers and stakeholders.
• Represent Oshawa Power in GTA East Regional Planning and work with the Distribution Design & System Planning team.
• Support system planning, non-wires solutions, grant programs, and other grid-edge initiatives as needed.

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the VP, Regulatory & External Affairs, the Grid Edge & Conservation Program Manager will play a crucial role in the delivery of Oshawa Power’s electricity demand side management (eDSM) and regional planning, implementing Ontario Energy Board (OEB) policies including related to non-wires solutions and customer connections, and progress other innovation-related initiatives. Situated within the Regulatory & External Affairs team, the candidate will work collaboratively across departments, and especially with the engineering department, to lead technical analysis for a variety of workstreams.

We are seeking a proactive individual who demonstrates strong initiative and a sense of ownership in their work. The ideal candidate will contribute ideas, provide critical analysis to vet and support ideas, be curious about energy efficiency, emerging distributed energy resources and technologies and be willing to adapt to new concepts and opportunities.

This newly created position offers an annual salary range between $100,000 and $130,000. Final compensation and position title will be based on experience, skills, and overall fit for the role. AS THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT, YOU HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE INVOLVED WITH:

The primary function of the role will be to manage the implementation of electricity Demand Side Management in Oshawa Power’s service territory, working with our industrial, commercial and institutional customers to assist them in identifying, analyzing and pursuing energy savings and management opportunities. The role will work closely with Oshawa Power’s Director, Communications & Stakeholder Relations and VP, Strategic Partnerships to build relationships with Oshawa Power’s larger customers.

The Grid Edge & Conservation Program Manager will also represent Oshawa Power in GTA East Regional Planning, working closely with the Manager, Distribution Design & System Planning.

The Grid Edge & Conservation Program Manager will also support system planning including implementation of non-wires solutions and customer connections policy, a Distribution System Operator platform, eDSM (stream two) programs, grants and other strategic initiatives taking place at the grid edge, as needed.

WHAT YOU HAVE TO OFFER:

• Post secondary education in a relevant field, preferably engineering, energy, science, business, economics, and/or policy;
• At least 5+ years’ experience in the energy sector in government, consulting, regulatory agencies, energy utilities, and/or with other types of public infrastructure;
• Familiarity with IESO Save On Energy programs and Regional Planning;
• Familiarity with OEB policies related to non-wires solutions, customer connections, and distributed energy resources including storage;
• Experience with formulating and implementing system planning initiatives, conservation initiatives, and/or non-wires solutions;
• Proven ability to build strong relationships with internal stakeholders across departments, including managing cross-departmental projects; and to interact with external stakeholders including medium to large customers, industry representatives, regulatory bodies, grant authorities and government staff;
• Experience with dataanalysisand data management is an asset;
• Professional engineering designation, Certified Energy Manager or Certified Measurement and Verification Professional certification(s) is an asset;
• Experience with preparing grant applications is an asset.
