Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) is seeking an Advisor, Indigenous Relations to join the Indigenous Relations Division within Corporate Relations Engagement and Strategy. The role is based in Toronto with travel across Ontario to engage with First Nations and Métis communities, supporting meaningful engagement and informed decision-making in the energy sector.

The successful candidate will be placed at the appropriate step within the salary grade/band, based on relevant years of experience and other applicable considerations.

Who we are
Our central role includes managing the provincial power grid in real-time, overseeing and evolving Ontario’s electricity market, engaging with government, municipalities and Indigenous communities, and planning for Ontario’s future electricity needs. Our employees play a key role in driving grid innovation, protecting the system from threats, advancing the province’s energy conservation programs, and forecasting and procuring the electricity resources we’ll need in the decades to come.
This is a unionized position that falls within the Indigenous Relations Division within the Corporate Relations Engagement and Strategy Business Unit.

The Advisor, Indigenous Relations reports to the Supervisor, Relationships. This position supports the Supervisor in managing positive relationships with First Nations and Métis communities in order to meet the IESO’s key objective of meaningful Indigenous engagement, as well as the broader province’s objectives with respect to advancing the involvement of Indigenous communities within the energy sector. The involvement of Indigenous communities could include, but is not limited to power system planning, renewable energy generation, transmission, funding support programs and conservation initiatives. In addition, this position will support the IESO with respect to engaging with Indigenous communities, and, where applicable, fulfilling the Duty to Consult. The position is based in Toronto and requires some travel to First Nation communities and Métis councils across the Province.
