Job summary

Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC) is seeking a skilled Orthoptist to join the Ophthalmology Clinic at Hotel Dieu Hospital in Kingston, Ontario. You will contribute to pediatric ophthalmology, strabismus, neuro-ophthalmology, and adult services, performing comprehensive ocular assessments and participating in care planning within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Certified Orthoptist and graduate of an accredited Orthoptic program.
• Membership or eligibility for membership with the Canadian Orthoptic Council.
• Current BCLS certification.
• Recent related clinical experience.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and patient education skills.
• Ability to work effectively with children and families.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to high clinical standards and ongoing professional development.
• Satisfactory Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Search.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive ocular assessments and testing.
• Interpret results and contribute to treatment planning.
• Independently assess patients in Orthoptic Clinics.
• Collaborate with ophthalmologists on medical and surgical options.
• Educate patients and families about conditions and plans.
• Provide contact lens therapy and related care.
• Support education of ophthalmology residents and learners.
• Participate in patient-centred care focused on clinical excellence.
