The Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH) is one of two Tertiary Trauma Centers in the City of Edmonton and one of the busiest Emergency Departments in Canada. Centrally located in Edmonton’s downtown core, the RAH serves a diverse community, including some of our province’s most vulnerable and marginalized population. The RAH Emergency Department cares for patients with major trauma, cardiac events, injuries, and general medical problems. Our staff are dedicated to improving patient and provider experience through ‘The Royal Alex Way’. We are motivated and strive towards excellence, embracing our inner city pride. The Emergency Department at RAH is a highly acute and challenging setting for nursing practice. Our patients encompass a diverse socio-economic spectrum and multi-cultural backgrounds. We are looking for an experienced, passion-driven Orthopaedic Technician Certified who has experience working with similar populations.
Description:As an Orthopaedic Technician (Ortho Tech), you will apply, adjust, and remove casts, splints and traction equipment utilized in the care of orthopaedic patients (clients, residents). You will observe, monitor, report and document changes in the patient's physical, mental and emotional state, while providing safe and effective, quality care. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Completion of an accredited specialty Orthopaedic Technician program. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
