Description:
Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA), The University of Manitoba, and Department of Surgery are inviting applications for an Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgeon. Main duties include diagnosing and treating diseases, prescribing medications, scheduling surgeries, ordering lab tests and diagnostics, and consulting with other physicians, which will constitute approximately 70% of the role. The successful candidate will join the Pan Am Orthopaedic Surgical Group at Pan Am Clinic and Concordia Hospital. The proposed start date is September 1, 2025, or a mutually agreed date.

The candidate may also be eligible for appointment as an Assistant Professor (or higher depending on academic rank) and will be a full-time member of the Max Rady College of Medicine, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba, accounting for about 30% of the role. All duties are required in English.

The candidate will join a cohesive team of 9 subspecialty-trained surgeons. Responsibilities include participating in a 1-in-13 general orthopaedic trauma call schedule, with elective clinic and surgical time provided. Teaching medical students, residents, and sports fellows is part of the daily activities. The candidate is expected to participate in and eventually lead research activities; candidates with advanced degrees supporting research or education will be preferred.

Qualifications

The candidate must hold a Doctor of Medicine degree with specialization in Surgery, have completed at least one year of fellowship in foot and ankle surgery, be eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and be registered with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba.

Compensation

Compensation includes fee-for-service income and a Minimum Income Guarantee. Specialty physicians may be eligible for a recruitment incentive. Benefits from the University of Manitoba include pension, life insurance, disability, dental, supplementary health coverage, and a healthcare spending account.
