Job description

This Volunteer Placement is located in: Iringa, Tanzania

Start Date: June / July 2025

Placement Length: 6 months with the possibility of extension

Language Requirements: English Level 5 - Fluent

Eligibility: Open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents of Canada only

The Volunteer’s Role

As a volunteer, you will:

  • Conduct a comprehensive assessment of Envirocare’s current operations, financial status, and existing funding sources.
  • Design innovative business models that promote long-term sustainability, incorporating environmental, social, and financial aspects.
  • Identify and propose diversified income streams, such as social enterprises or fee-for-service initiatives.
  • Create a detailed assessment report identifying strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for financial sustainability, along with strategic recommendations.
  • Develop business models that align with Envirocare’s mission and objectives, leading to enhanced operational resilience and reduced reliance on donor funding.
  • Prepare an implementation plan for diversified income sources, detailing expected revenue and timelines for each initiative.
Essential Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s preferred) in Business Administration, International Development, Social Entrepreneurship, or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of sustainable business practices and social enterprise models.
Essential Background
  • At least 4 years of experience in organizational or business development.
  • Proven track record in fundraising and resource mobilization for NGOs or social enterprises.
  • Skills in proposal writing and securing funding from grants, contracts, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills, experience in stakeholder engagement and partnerships.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with project management software.
  • Ability to train and mentor staff in business development and proposal writing.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently, managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
