Overview
Ottawa’s Protak Consulting Group Inc. is seeking an experienced Organizational Design and Classification Consultant for a new federal government project. This is a contract opportunity.
Responsibilities
- Perform organizational design assessments, including organizational modelling;
- Evaluate job descriptions against the applicable classification standards;
- Submit & discuss the proposed ratings to the Manager in charge;
- Conduct relativity studies and job validation studies and reviews;
- Ensure compliance with the TBS Classification Policy;
- Chair/participate on classification committees or classification grievances;
- Amend, write or re-write job descriptions to meet the Standard;
- Identify sub-groups;
- Prepare complete narrative classification rationales;
- Coaching/ mentoring of trainees, if applicable;
- Ensure adherence to TBS Classification Policies throughout the classification process;
- Ensure relativity with other departments;
- Convene classification committees as required;
- Write or update job descriptions;
- Prepare classification rationales.
Deliverables
- Full narrative classification documents, including current and future state assessments of the organizations, rationales supporting each new classification decision, organizational modelling (where applicable); classification grievance reports and other applicable documents;
- Relativity studies, including leading practices strengths and weaknesses and other key observations from the industry;
- Invoices are to be submitted with a breakdown of hours by activity.
Requirements
- Must provide references with their resume;
- Candidates must hold an active Security Clearance (Reliability Status at minimum).
The Organizational Design And Classification Consultant Must Have
- Recent experience delivering classification and / or organization design services for the Federal Public Service, with sufficient depth and breadth to demonstrate that they are capable of working with independence and minimal direction;
- Significant experience related to analyzing organizations and writing work descriptions;
- Classification Accreditation by Treasury Board would be considered an asset, especially working with classification grievance files;
- Bilingualism would be considered an asset.
Other Details
- Level of effort: 3 days of full-time work per week;
- Contract duration: November 2023 – March 2024 with possibility of contract extension of up to three (3) years total;
- Location of work: Work will be conducted off-site (remotely) with access to government facilities provided as required.
