The Francis Winspear Centre for Music is seeking a dynamic individual as an Orchestral Librarian Assistant. This is a 10-week role from June 20-August 29, 2025, working 35 hours/week, and the Assistant will support the library operations.

As one of Canada's premier music venues, the Francis Winspear Centre for Music provides musical experiences rooted in creativity, imagination, and excellence. We emphasize the importance of live experiences, hosting music groups and individuals of all abilities, anchored by our resident artists, the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra.

Located on Indigenous peoples’ traditional lands, we believe music is an expressive language that unites people. We are dedicated to providing a safe, welcoming, and accessible space for our community to create, exhibit, and learn about music.

Since 1997, the Winspear Centre has been a cornerstone of Edmonton’s Arts District, welcoming 250,000 visitors annually for musical performances, rehearsals, literary events, meetings, receptions, graduations, and educational programs. This position is pending due to approval of government funding. The position requires candidates to meet the following criteria:

1. Between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment
2. Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
3. Legally entitled to work in Alberta and Canada

What you will do:

1. Catalog Orchestral, Jazz, and Chamber repertoire
2. Scan music for the 2025/2026 ESO season
3. Help with ESO summer concerts as needed
4. Part preparation including bowing, errata, and page turn fixes
5. Support the Orchestral Librarian with other support as needed

Qualifications:

1. Student in or graduate of a College, University, or Institute music or library studies program
2. Experience working or volunteering in a performance library
3. Able to lift 50 pounds
4. Strong communication and problem-solving abilities and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment
5. Experience working with many details, be organized and able to prioritize work
6. Able to work evenings and weekends when required
