SKYLIGHT OPTICAL INC. is seeking a dedicated Optical Laboratory Assistant in Richmond. The role involves fitting patients with eyeglasses or contact lenses and managing laboratory operations. Wages: $24.00 hourly / 30-35 hours per week

Responsibilities
• Accurately gather and interpret detailed specifications for eyeglasses or contact lenses based on prescriptions provided by optometrists or ophthalmologists.
• Assist clients in selecting appropriate frames and lenses that meet their prescription needs, lifestyle, and aesthetic preferences.
• Fit clients with prescription eyeglasses or contact lenses, ensuring comfort, proper alignment, and optimal vision correction.
• Meticulously update and maintain comprehensive prescription records for each client, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
• Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems to manage client files, ensuring that all prescription details are easily accessible for future reference.
• Regularly clean, calibrate, and maintain optical laboratory equipment, such as lensometers, lens edgers, and coating machines, to ensure optimal performance and accuracy.
• Conduct routine inspections of equipment, identifying and troubleshooting any issues to prevent disruptions in service.
• Manage day-to-day clerical tasks, including answering phones, responding to client inquiries, and managing correspondence, to support the smooth operation of the optical laboratory.
• Assist with data entry, filing, and record-keeping to maintain organized and up-to-date client and operational records.
• Efficiently process client files, insurance forms, and other paperwork related to the production and delivery of eyewear.
• Coordinate and manage appointment scheduling, confirming client visits through phone calls, emails, or text reminders.
• Monitor inventory levels of supplies, lenses, and laboratory equipment, placing orders as needed to ensure uninterrupted service.
