Nova Scotia is the provincial cochair of the Forum of Labour Market Ministers (FLMM) and will act as the FLMM Secretariat from April 1 2025 to March 31 2027. The FLMM is a neutral forum composed of federal provincial and territorial (FP / T) Ministers responsible for labour market policies and programs. Established in 1983 the FLMM promotes discussion and cooperation between governments on panCanadian and regional labour market issues. The FLMM is cochaired by Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) and a lead province or territory. About Our Opportunity

Reporting to the Director of the FLMM Secretariat the Secretary 2 will provide administrative and coordination services along with project support to the Director Analysts and FLMM representatives through the effective management coordination and efficient operation of the FLMM office. By having a good knowledge of processes and general administration the Secretary 2 acts as the first point of contact for FLMM representatives in 14 jurisdictions and acts as the liaison for staff and other government officials seeking information support and assistance in a highly sensitive and confidential environment.

You have successfully completed an office administration program with 3 years of related experience or the equivalent combination of training and experience. You are dedicated to high standards of quality with proven initiative integrity judgement decision making abilities and communication skills (verbal and written). You are resourceful reliable and have a high degree of organizational skills which are required to determine priorities with minimal supervision in a busy environment. Essential skills include advanced computer skills using Microsoft Office (Word PowerPoint Outlook and Excel) the ability to create and manage processes and other efficient office management practices. A high degree of confidentiality sensitivity discretion and judgement are essential. You must be able to effectively respond to high volumes of work and work independently with minimal supervision.

This is a TERM fulltime position based in Halifax with an anticipated end date of March 31 2027 . The appointment status (term temporary or casual) is dependent on the start date of the successful candidate.
