About Us
Nova Scotia Environment and Climate Changes role is to protect the environment human health and animal health through regulatory excellence conservation partnerships and promotion. To achieve this we strive to develop legislation regulations and policies process notifications applications and approvals for regulated activities based on sound scientific knowledge and expertise.
Our goal is to educate inspect and enforce to ensure compliance with legislation and regulations. We also proactively respond to environmental conservation animal and human health risks and work to develop programs and deliver services to enhance protection in these areas.

About Our Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager of Operations you will be responsible for coordinating work to develop policies procedures and standard approaches for work associated with the management of designated Wilderness Areas and Nature Reserves in Nova Scotia.
Priorities include conducting a review of and updating existing policies and procedures developing new policies and procedures and developing tools templates and guidance as required.
This work will contribute to an efficient operational work environment focused on effective administration and management of Wilderness Areas and Nature Reserves. Work may involve processing requests from stakeholders and the public helping ensure consistency across regions and identifying ways to improve service to Nova Scotians interacting with protected areas.
Qualifications and Experience
To be successful in this role you will as a minimum have a bachelors degree in a related field and experience working in policy development or planning. Experience working with legislation government policies procedures and decision-making processes is considered an asset. Experience relevant to protected areas land conservation or natural resource management will be considered assets as well. Additional assets include project management experience and engaging with external stakeholders and partners.
We will assess the above qualifications and capabilities using one or more of the following tools : written examination standardized tests oral presentations interview(s) and reference checks.

Other Considerations
Please note this is expected to be a Temporary status position with an end date of March 31 2026; however the position status (temporary or casual) is dependent on the start date of the successful candidate.

Salary Range : $2084.99- $3231.58Bi-Weekly
