PURPOSE OF THE POSITION :

Reporting to the Payroll Supervisor, the Opportunities & Funding Specialist is responsible for addressing access gaps for services for children, youth, and their families through programs such as Post Majority Care (PMC), Jordan’s Principle Child First Initiative, Ready, Set, Go, and others. The specialist provides service coordination, planning, and manages funding requests, eligibility, rate adjustments, tracking, and reconciliation. They also handle financial, statistical, and administrative services, including processing payments and maintaining records.

RESPONSIBILITIES :
  • Familiarize with Indigenous Services Canada, Ready, Set, Go, Canadian Human Rights Tribunal, Jordan’s Principle, and related programs.
  • Understand agency programs, service coordination, and workflow processes; recommend modifications to the Director of Finance and Operations.
  • Collaborate with service teams to identify unmet needs, complete funding applications, respond to documentation requests, and manage appeals.
  • Work with service providers and First Nations to gather supporting documentation for applications.
  • Design and deliver outreach strategies and information sessions on Jordan’s Principle; promote awareness and assist families in accessing services.
  • Support agency staff with education on funding opportunities to better serve clients.
  • Coordinate with the finance department to process and manage financial claims according to policy.
  • Collaborate with other departments and community organizations to ensure timely requests and maintain good relationships.
  • Develop understanding of related community agencies and mandates.
  • Participate in committees as needed.
  • Engage with communities, service providers, and elders to foster effective partnerships.
