Ovintiv's Canadian Operating Area is seeking a Sour Plant Process Operator at our Pipestone processing facility located between Wembley and La Glace, Alberta.

The plant consists of a rich sour process plant, 55,000 horsepower gas turbine, inlet/sales compression, Sulfinol system, condensate stabilization, acid gas injection and LPG train.

The shift schedule is composed of 12-hour rotating shifts including nightshifts.

Responsibilities

  • Operate gas plant equipment and facilities in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Troubleshoot process problems and identify opportunities for improvement and optimization.
  • Monitor and control plant utilizing Cygnet HMI / SCADA control systems.
  • Maintain superior housekeeping standards throughout the plant process and control room areas.
  • Responsible for minor maintenance and the coordination of other maintenance activities.
  • Understand and perform safety responsibilities such as hazard identification, equipment lock-out and emergency response.
  • Confirm compliance with environmental and safety regulatory requirements and provide corrective action if required.
  • Ensure effective communication with operations, maintenance and management staff.
  • Maintain proper documentation including operator log, plant maintenance records and safety environment reports.
  • Perform laboratory analysis and interpretive tasks including amine and product testing.
  • Conduct ongoing performance improvement including job progression, site-specific training and process training.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of Alberta Process Fired Heater Certificate.
  • Five or more years of sour gas processing experience.
  • Operational experience with distributed control systems.
  • Ideally, applicants will offer the following experience: operational and maintenance experience in gas compression, gas turbine, sweetening, glycol dehydration, fractionation, treating, acid gas compression and pipelines.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Strong team player with the ability to work independently.
  • Proficiency in the use and application of Microsoft Suite, Word, Excel, Outlook and Access would be an asset.
  • Valid Class 5 drivers’ license.

In accordance with applicable law, the following represents Ovintiv's reasonable estimate of the hiring compensation range for this role.

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $117,000 - $140,000 CAD

Compensation may vary and will be determined by the geographic location, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
